Establishing the Capabilities of the Murchison Widefield Array as a Passive Radar for the Surveillance of Space

This paper describes the use of Murchison Widefield Array, a low-frequency radio telescope at radio-quiet Western Australian site, as radar receiver forming part continent-spanning multistatic network for surveillance space. details system geometry employed, orbit-specific signal processing, and orbit determination algorithms necessary to ensure resident space objects are detected, tracked, propagated. Finally, includes results processed after short collection campaign utilising several FM transmitters across country, up maximum baseline distance over 2500 km. The demonstrate Array is able provide widefield persistent coverage in low Earth orbit.
